Achieving A Flat Stomach When Diet And Exercise Don’t Work
- Posted on: Mar 11 2015
Sometimes diet and exercise just don’t result in having a flat tummy. As frustrating as it is, there are things you can do to obtain the firm, flat stomach you’d like.
Surgical Options For A Flat Stomach
If you find diet and exercise just aren’t enough, you may want to consider a cosmetic procedure. Abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck, is a procedure that flattens and shapes the abdominal area by removing excess fat and tightening muscles.
Liposuction is another effective option for smoothing and flattening areas of fat. In this procedure, a small incision is made and fat is removed using a suction tube.
Maintain Cosmetic Results
Once you’ve gone through the cosmetic surgery process and are enjoying the results, it is critical to practice a healthy lifestyle to maintain those results for a long time.
- Sleep more: Alack of sleep can lead to weight gain. According to a study in the American Journal of Epidemiology, women who slept five or fewer hours per night were 32 percent more likely to experience major weight gain over 16 years than women who got more sleep. Not getting enough sleep can also lead you to consume extra calories. In another study from the New York Obesity Nutrition Research Center, when women got four hours of sleep instead of eight hours, they consumed more than 300 additional calories per day, mostly from fatty foods. Too little sleep causes an increase in a hormone called ghrelin that stimulates appetite, leading you to crave more and consume extra calories.
- Change up your workout: It’s great to stay active, but many people only engage in cardio activity and often that is not enough to lose belly fat. When you just engage in a cardio workout, such as running, your metabolism adjusts and you stop burning calories as soon as you stop your cardio workout.
