How Does Liposuction Work?
Liposuction goes by several names – lipoplasty, suction lipectomy, etc. But, no matter what you call it, the goal is the same: to sculpt the body by removing undesirable fat. Common areas include the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms
A minimally-invasive procedure at its core, liposuction is one of the most effective and time-tested surgeries around. Before the procedure, the treatment area is fully anesthetized, ensuring that the patient remains calm and comfortable throughout the treatment. We then make tiny incisions and inject a local anesthetic into the area to help expand and firm the fat, making it easier to remove. Using a small tube called a “cannula,” fat is then suctioned away. No stitches are needed after liposuction since the incisions are small enough to heal on their own.
And, while it’s certainly a simple procedure, the results can be simply dramatic!
