Restylane Injections Huntington, NY

Restylane Long Island, NY

When we are young our skin is smooth and elastic with a healthy glow. As we age, our ability to maintain that smoothness and elasticity diminishes, resulting in skin that becomes drier, thinner and less able to replenish itself. Our body’s natural collagen and hyaluronic acid levels decrease and our skin becomes looser. This leads to our skin wrinkling and appearing older than it should.

What Is Restylane?

Approved by the FDA, Dr. Charlotte Ann Rhee is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in Huntington, Long Island NY that provides Restylane injections to match your skin. Restylane smoothes wrinkles, sculpts lips and shapes facial contours.

The different Restylane fillers we offer

Restylane® was the first dermal filler in the U.S., approved back in 2006. Since then, Restylane®, along with Juvéderm®, have been the world’s most popular dermal fillers. Over the years, both product lines have expanded to specifically target areas such as the lips with Restylane® Silk or Juvéderm® Volbella®.

The full Restylane® line now includes six fillers:

  • Restylane®
  • Restylane® Silk,
  • Restylane® Kysse™
  • Restylane® Lyft
  • Restylane® Refyne™
  • Restylane® Defyne™

Dr. Rhee is especially excited by the improvements made with Restylane® Defyne™.

Restylane Treatment Areas

The most common areas for a Restylane treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). When used for lips or facial contouring, Restylane will add shape and volume to the area.

How Does Restylane Work?

With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane is able to perform for many months in your skin. Restylane is able to create volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out.

What is Restylane Defyne?

Approved by the FDA in 2016 along with Refyne™, Defyne™ specifically targets moderate to deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It is also excellent for chin enhancement. Defyne™ has been created using XpressHAn Technology™, which allows Defyne™ to restore a more youthful, natural-looking appearance while helping you maintain your natural expressions and facial movements.

Why Defyne is so different

There are plenty of options for addressing nasolabial folds and marionette lines, but Defyne™ is different. Defyne™ has been designed with what their manufacturer, Galderma, calls XpressHAn Technology™. XpressHAn Technology™ is a cross-linking in the gel in Defyne™ that helps support the patient’s natural expressions — for real-life results that help maintain natural movement when smiling, frowning, or otherwise moving your mouth.

What does this mean? If you’re reading this page, you know about dermal fillers. In some cases, injection into the nasolabial folds and other areas around the mouth can create an unnatural inability of the facial skin to move with certain facial expressions. Galderma says its technology now allows Defyne™ to fill the creases, all the while letting your skin move naturally when you make expressions.

How do I know if I have chin retrusion?

Chin retrusion is recession. If the chin recedes back far enough, due to declining collagen production and other aging effects, it can create an imbalance of your facial features. This becomes what you would call a “weak chin” when seen from the side in profile.

If you wonder if this is occurring with your chin, try this simple test. Take a pen or pencil and hold it in a downward position from your nose through the lower lip to your chin. The ideal chin should only be a few millimeters behind that line — any farther back and you may have chin retrusion.

If you’d like to see some interesting examples of chin retrusion and how Defyne™ corrects it, check out this link to the Restylane® Defyne page.

Good candidates for Defyne injections

As we age, our skin loses elasticity. This causes the lines that run along the side of the nose and mouth — nasolabial folds and marionette lines — to become more pronounced as well as the chin to recede backwards toward the neck, creating an imbalance in facial features. This is known as chin retrusion.

Restylane® Defyne™ is made to correct moderate to deep smile and marionette lines and to improve chin projection by correcting mild-to-moderate chin retrusion. Thanks to its unique XpresHAn Technology™, Defyne™ does this but allows your natural facial movement.

Patient Testimonial

"Very good experience, the staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. I recommend this place to everyone. Also, Dr. Rhee and Olga go above and beyond to help you feel and look your best."

How long does it take Restylane Defyne to work?

Results delivered by Defyne™ are immediate. As soon Dr. Rhee injects Defyne™, the hyaluronic acid instantly binds with nearby water molecules, instantly hydrating, plumping, and firming the area.

How Long A Restylane Treatment Takes

Since no pre-testing is required, a Restylane treatment can be performed almost immediately. It usually takes about 30 minutes depending on the type of correction you want.

How often would I need Restylane Defyne injections?

Restylane® Defyne™ provides results for up to one year. At that point, you will begin to see the return of your smile and marionette lines and a diminishing effect on your chin. That’s the time to schedule another Defyne™ session with Dr. Rhee.

Are these injections painful?

Most people find the injections relatively painless, but a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area prior to your treatment.

Because Dr. Rhee injects Restylane® Defyne™ a little more deeply beneath moderate to deep smile and marionette lines, she first applies topical numbing cream to the areas. This keeps you comfortable. Restylane® also includes some lidocaine in its formulation for added comfort.

When Will I See Results After
Restylane Injections?

You will be able to see the results as soon as your treatment is completed.

Will I need more Restylane injections in the future?

Yes. There isn’t a “permanent” dermal filler in existence. All dermal fillers, whether Restylane® Defyne™ or any of the Juvéderm® fillers offered by Dr. Rhee, will eventually break down and the hyaluronic acid will degrade. At that point, another session will be necessary to maintain your results.

How to maintain your results

There isn’t anything you can do or need to do to maintain your results after Dr. Rhee injects Restylane® Defyne™. The hyaluronic acid will bind with water molecules providing the volume to erase smile lines, marionette lines, and to return the volume to your chin. There isn’t anything you can do to affect the process of your body eventually breaking down the filler.
