Have You Heard of the Daddy Do-Overs?
- Posted on: Jul 10 2012
For years, Mommy Makeovers have been a way for new mothers to get closer to their pre-baby bodies. A typical procedure includes a tummy tuck, liposuction and a breast procedure in keeping with the unique needs of a woman. Today, many news sites are reporting on an interesting new trend in the world of plastic surgery: the Daddy Do-Over. Like a Mommy Makeover procedure, a Daddy Do-Over aims to help a man achieve the body he had before family life. But first, why does a man’s body change?
There are two different factors at play here. One, as a man ages, his metabolism begins to slow. Secondly, a new father faces issues of stress and time management. Together, these factors may leave a man dealing with stubborn, unwanted fat, and a physique he’s not proud of. This is where the Daddy Do-Over comes in. Through a series of procedures performed together, we work to help men achieve a leaner, more youthful appearance.
Popular Daddy Do-Over procedures include:
- Liposuction: While exercise and diet might be enough for some men, other guys deal with stubborn, exercise-resistant fat on a daily basis. Thankfully, liposuction can often combat this. While not a weight loss solution, liposuction can achieve a slimmer, more youthful shape by permanently removing fat. Common sites include the midsection, love handles and chest.
- Tummy Tuck: Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck aims to flatten and shape the midsection and achieve a more youthful waistline. Our practice also offers a partial abdominoplasty, which involves a smaller incision. Growing more popular among men each year, there were nearly 5,000 male tummy tuck procedures performed in 2011, alone. This data comes from a recent report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
- Male Breast Reduction: Gynecomastia is a common condition that affects nearly half of men, resulting in fat and/or glandular tissue in the breasts. Embarrassed by this, many men look to male breast reduction to achieve a more contoured chest. During the procedure, we will perform liposuction, surgery or a combination of the two, depending on the amount and type of tissue present.
