What Are My Options For Body Contouring?

As age and gravity take a toll on the body, certain areas can become saggy and loose. While diet and exercise can help to tighten and slim problem areas, they can only do so much. This can be a source of frustration and shame for patients trying to restore their appearance. Luckily, there are a variety of body contouring procedures designed to sculpt and improve a patient’s silhouette.

Popular Body Contouring Treatments

  • Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty): Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a “tummy tuck”, is one of the most popular and effective body contouring procedures. A tummy tuck creates a flat stomach and smooth waist by trimming away excess fat and skin, and tightening the abdominal muscles. This surgery is ideal for women who have loose skin and muscles due to pregnancy, or men and women who have undergone significant weight loss.
  • Partial Abdominoplasty: Much like its more involved counterpart, a partial abdominoplasty, or “mini tummy tuck” creates a flatter stomach. However, this technique requires a smaller incision and involves lifting the skin only up to the navel. The partial procedure is intended for patients who are within 10 percent of their ideal body weight and have minimal areas of improvement.
  • Liposuction: The least invasive of all body contouring procedures, liposuction is most effective at removing small deposits of stubborn fat on targeted areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, waist, chest and arms. There are several liposuction techniques that can be applied, depending on the size and location of the treatment area. Liposuction can also be combined with other procedures for more dramatic results.
